The groom had the decency to be truly horrified by his family's attempt to pass a fake stone off as real, the bride learned the family's true colors, and there was much drama.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17961324142363330268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577155903853273621.post-18952766491794668262015-12-16T05:33:32.077-08:002015-12-16T05:33:32.077-08:00I bet that he would demand to be reimbursed for th...I bet that he would demand to be reimbursed for the wax paper, ziplock bags, and saran wrap. The Cosmic Avengerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10197101759099190901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577155903853273621.post-12778566308818937492015-12-16T00:22:00.310-08:002015-12-16T00:22:00.310-08:00Ugh, my mother is still alive and well, but that d...Ugh, my mother is still alive and well, but that doesn't stop my (mentally ill, drug and alcohol addicted) half-sister arguing about the jewels. To shut her up, my mum gave each of her three daughters a ring - of course argumentative sister chose an emerald and diamond ring that was by far the most valuable. My mum loaned it to me to wear, as emerald is my birth stone. I spent hundreds of dollars having it cleaned and repaired (one of the emeralds was cracked) and valued. Mum was thrilled when she got it back in better condition than she gave it. Sister 'claimed' it, moved overseas and promptly lost it. She's now bitching about a star sapphire and diamond ring that mum gave me, as her second husband (sister's dad) paid for the loose 9 carat stone and had it set in platinum and diamonds. Mum wore it once - she has tiny hands and it dwarfed her. I'm the tallest and biggest of all my sisters, and the ring suits me perfectly! The blue-grey of the sapphire even matches my eyes! I paid to have the claws repaired and the ring enlarged, guess who now thinks she should get it! My step dad is the most wonderful dad n the world, and loves us like his own children. He's firmly on my side. cat_forsterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11315281711859448839noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577155903853273621.post-90632710657089767422015-12-15T10:43:27.174-08:002015-12-15T10:43:27.174-08:00Geez did they hit it with a tactical nuke or what?...Geez did they hit it with a tactical nuke or what?bobblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17772507610157162749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577155903853273621.post-8402443122768064242015-12-15T07:26:36.151-08:002015-12-15T07:26:36.151-08:00Maybe Sly was playing a trick on Ted when he said ...Maybe Sly was playing a trick on Ted when he said he would give the Good Bracelet to TedsWife, knowing full well it was costume jewellery?
And Ted and TedsWife didn't say anything when Primo gave them the bracelet because they had never actually seen it before. I have stories of my own family members behaviour after my mother died which make Ted seem like a reasonable human being.

My mother didn't actually help though. She specified some jewellery go to my oldest half sister (but unknown to me had given it to her years before). I was panicking as I couldn't find it (I was one of the executors of the estate) but, luckily, when I mentioned this, my sister told me she already had it. I can just about guarantee that if it had been my other, completely mad, half sister, that she would had denied all knowledge and accused me of stealing it.Sc@rlettNZhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07382266557288989525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577155903853273621.post-20088293807158607302015-12-14T18:12:02.701-08:002015-12-14T18:12:02.701-08:00I really, really dislike these people.I really, really dislike these people.beyondbeigehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14037096412783662961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577155903853273621.post-36785666036775011122015-12-14T15:26:23.444-08:002015-12-14T15:26:23.444-08:00:):)the gold diggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09134199198587591427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577155903853273621.post-35422921930628016012015-12-14T15:15:30.760-08:002015-12-14T15:15:30.760-08:00Sometimes the apple doesn't fall far from the ...Sometimes the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Besides, as I've said before, if the executor distributes anything not according to the will, they could be sued by the other heirs. Now, lots of times family members can AGREE to let one person have items of sentimental value, but if their value is more than negligible then that value is usually deducted from their share of the inheritance! Those who object to keeping it fair like that would be the first to scream bloody murder if someone else got something that they didn't!The Cosmic Avengerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10197101759099190901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577155903853273621.post-1985596082536982442015-12-14T08:05:24.326-08:002015-12-14T08:05:24.326-08:00Tangentially, I am reminded of the story of my fri...Tangentially, I am reminded of the story of my friend's engagement ring. The center stone came from the husband's family -- mother or grandmother, I can't remember which -- and it was HUGE -- something like 3 carats. The groom's family was all braggy about it, that it was this fabulous heirloom, and the bride was getting such a gift, yada, yada, yada.

They took it in to get it re-set from the original setting to a more modern one that suited the bride, and as the stone was being placed in the new setting, it melted.

Because, you know, that's what synthetic stones do when heated to temperatures beyond what they can stand, but temperatures that real diamonds can withstand.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17961324142363330268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577155903853273621.post-38819574983051657022015-12-14T06:26:16.281-08:002015-12-14T06:26:16.281-08:00Sly told him he could have it.
