In which the IRS tells Primo he has to file returns for the campaign account for the years he didn't run

But then they say, "But if there was no income in that time, you do not have to file a return."

OK, IRS. Thank you for your consistency.

In Canada, you can file a "no income" return for a business. Maybe you should do that, just to cover all bases.

  2. We're having a similar thing with Arizona state's Sales and Use tax. The whole system changed last year, but the towns weren't prepared for it, so I have to file $0 returns every month to stay licensed in a city. I don't get it.

  3. While you don't have to send them in you probably should prepare the forms and file them away. I've done that in the past with my kids.

  4. If you going to complete the form for $0.00, i'd file it and also keep a copy ... just in case.

  5. File it. Filing starts the clock on audits.

  6. I was just sitting here drinking coffee and catching up on your stories and it occurred to me, "How nice. The awfulness of the time of Sly & Doris's deaths are over." Funny, I was wondering what you would blog about when they were gone. You have a great sense of humor and your perspective is skewed just how I like it. I also think that if I feel some relief, how much better you and Primo must feel. At least I hope you are both recovered. Losing parents under good circumstances is hard. That was a fricking nightmare. Bless you both.

    1. Ah, thanks, Anon! I wondered what I would write about, too, but then Primo's brother happened. :)

  7. Thanks, guys - Primo did file. I just asked him. Of course, the definition of "income" is what strikes me - he did have campaign donations at some point, so there was revenue, but "income" to me implies that revenues exceed expenses, which has not happened on any of Primo's campaigns. That is, Primo and I made loans to the campaigns. Those campaigns are in debt.
