In which I find another reason to think that Sly and Doris were Bad Parents

As we are making the bed:

Primo: How do you do that again?

Me: A hospital corner?

Primo: Yes.

Me: Like this.

Primo: You are so much better at this than I am.

Me: Well I've been doing it since I was a little kid.

Primo: That explains it.

Me: Wait. When did you start making your bed?

Primo: College.

Me: WHAT?

Primo: What?

Me: You mean your mom MADE YOUR BED FOR YOU? UNTIL YOU WENT TO COLLEGE?

Primo: Yes.

Me: In. Cred. Ible.

Primo: I had to do other chores!

Me: Uh huh.

Primo: I had to help with the dishes.

Me: But your mom. Made your bed. Every. Morning.

Primo: Yes.

Me: That? Is pathetic.

  1. I've said it before, I'm a mean ole mama bird. The boys have chores, I do not do their chores. If they do not do their chores they have no money/wifi/cable. If they want clean clothes they know where the washing machine is. If they want a made bed they make it. If their room is a pig mess I close the door and hut down screens until it's clean. They vacuum, do the dishes, do their laundry, sweep, clean the cat box, clean their room, and their bathroom. Hubby and I take care of floors, windows, cook, clean our bathroom/bedroom, and do our laundry. We work all day, they need to help run the show. I will not send my boys out into the world with no idea how to help future roomates/partners keep up on chores.

  2. I'm good at my household chores but I will admit I am heading into my 30s and still never make my bed. Also have no idea how to do hospital corners and my mother never made my bed or showed me how to do it.

My bed shall likely remain forever messy.
