In which there are more catalogs and advertising lists to advise that the persons they are soliciting are dead
On the list today. Each one requires looking up the website and sending an email complete with Sly and Doris' name and address, which is now our address. I spend months getting us off all the junk mail lists and now I have to do it again.

Have you tried catalogchoice.org to manage this? It worked really well for me when I decided that I don't want to get paper catalogs any more. You create an account and then tell it which catalogs you don't want. It may take a couple of months before you stop receiving them, but it really does work.

ReplyDeleteMy dad has been gone 17 years, and every once in awhile I get a piece of mail with his name on it (some catalog). My mom has only been gone seven years, but I was quite aggressive about getting mail stopped after she died. I get some old lady catalog (orthopedic shoes or Alfred Dunner clothes) every single month. My alma mater, to whom she donated two sofas in 1979, kept her on their solicitation list until I called the university president and had a minor hissy fit on the phone with his administrative assistant. I think it's hopeless.
