Primo: My dad looks sad in these photos. [from the funeral]
Me: He does. It will be sad for you when I die.
Primo: You think you are going to go first?
Me: I hope so! Wait. No. I want you to die first just so I can have the pleasure of throwing away all of your junk.

I am still sad for Doris. I hold Sly fully responsible for her hastened passing. What a union - somehow it produced Primo (who would never get drunk and fall on GD) .
ReplyDeleteMy heart breaks for him. I loved my mother but could not deal with her untreated mental illness and games. I was the adult from like 8 on. I am glad you and Primo found each other.

I am too, GK. Poor Doris. She just didn't have a chance. I so wanted more for her.
DeleteThat is very sad about your mom. What an awful thing for a little kid (and for a grownup kid). xox
am so with you on that. Mitchell is not quite as serious a collector as Primo, but the house will be much larger when i am alone! a small sacrifice for having him around.
ReplyDeleteWebb, you are right! I would rather have Primo with trash than an uncluttered house without Primo. Thank you.
DeleteI hope Primo laughed when you said that. There needs to be some levity during all this sad, tense time.
ReplyDeletePrimo, amazingly, has kept his sense of humor throughout this ordeal.
DeleteOh the throwing away of the crap. Helping my mom shred dad's old papers. And by papers I mean binders and binders of printouts of every email he's ever sent...and every reply. Most are mundane but then in the middle of the binder will be something sensitive. It's draining work, I feel for you and Primo GD.
ReplyDeleteKittychick, your dad printed out all of his emails? Oh man! You must have been going crazy!
