In which not only is there mail for Sly and Doris but also for Nancy, who died 12 years ago and never lived in Florida

Me to Finca:

Really, guys? She has been dead for TWELVE YEARS. That is, she has not donated any money to you - although I am going to go out on a limb here and say that usually, unemployed heroin addicts are not your biggest givers even when they are alive.

  1. We continue to get mailings for the wife of the person we bought our house from 10 years ago. She had died several years before. One of the mailings looks like an investment account, the rest are more marketing things. We keep sending them back with "forwarding address unknown". The other day, we got something with (I assume) her maiden name on it, they were married when they built the house in 1982, and have been the only other people to live in this house.

  2. At every place I've lived, we get a ton of mailings for crap we don't want for previous residents. We've lived in five places in the area now, and each mail carrier that we've had has taken the time to scribble out the non-resident's name (not just cross it out: they go over it several times) and to circle the "or current resident" part multiple times. I don't know how they have time to do that for every person who gets junk mail for former residents of houses or apartments on their routes, but we've had a new mail carrier at each place and they all do it.

I've mentioned this before, but at one apartment where we got mail for about five or six different people at a time, I would have gone insane if I hadn't started using Catalog Choice. They are back to nonprofit status now, too! :) There's even a feature to report the ones that don't respond to the request to stop sending materials. I hate getting catalogs of any kind, because I just go online if I want any of their stuff (and I probably don't want any of it).
