Wednesday Aug 22 Primo gets a campaign contribution from an interest group

Primo: I gave a speech tonight at the meeting of the APWWSEETCATOI.

Me: How did it go?

Primo: Good! They gave me a $500 contribution.

Me: Your speech must have been really good.

Primo: Not really. There were three other candidate speakers and they all got $500, too.

  1. This is the part where I'd start to feel uncomfortable and beholden to contributors. I'd be lying awake at night wondering exactly what $500 buys? That isn't even one link on a Rolex! I guess you need a really thick skin to be in politics.

    1. I know! It's a tough issue. Officially, of course, the money is not supposed to get you any special treatment, but of course it does. And you can't operate without it unless you want to spend just your own money, which those of us who are not Kennedys or Kerrys cannot afford to do.
